Supporting Pride in Plymouth 2021
Pride in Plymouth is back this Saturday 7th August 2021 and Fresh Air Studios is delighted to be one of this year's sponsors.
It's not unusual for events to have been cancelled over the past 18 months but Plymouth's Pride event has waited even longer to return. In 2018, the rain made things challenging and kept many people away. High winds in 2019 meant the event had to be cancelled and then, of course, the pandemic put the kibosh on 2020.
The event is run entirely by volunteers who all believe in the ethos of "bringing people together" to celebrate the hard won freedoms enjoyed collectively by the LGBTQ+ community as well as helping shape a more inclusive future for all LGBTQ+ people. They've done a great job of pulling it all together in a short timeframe this year.
Fresh Air Studios CEO, Paul Philpott, explains why he felt it was important to lend his support to the event:
"We've always prided ourselves on being an inclusive company and are delighted to support diversity within the city. The LGBTQ+ community has not always enjoyed such freedoms and still faces prejudices and abuse, so it's good to be able to celebrate how much things have changed, encourage greater education and understanding, and look to an even better future. It seems all the more important this year as attacks on LGBTQ+ rights around the world regularly make the news."
Organisers promise a family friendly event with a parade through the city centre and live entertainment, stalls and funfair. The parade leave Plymouth's Guildhall Square at midday and the entertainment runs until 8pm on the Hoe.
Fingers crossed for good weather!
